  7. Defence
  8. Navigation/Shipping
  9. Quarantine
  10. Sea Coast and Inland Fisheries
  11. Ferries (interprovincial/international)
  12. Currency/Coinage
  13. Banking /Incorporation of Banks/Paper Money
  14. Weights and Measures
  15. Bankruptcy
  16. Patents
  17. Copyrights
  18. Indians/Indian reserves
  19. Citizenship
  20. Marriage/Divorce
  21. Criminal law, including Criminal Procedure
  22. Penitentiaries
  23. Works connecting provinces; beyond boundaries of one province; within a province but to the advantage of Canada/or more than one province

Exclusive Powers of Provincial Legislatures

The exclusive powers of Provincial legislatures include the following:

  1. Direct Taxation within Province
  2. Management/Sale of Public Lands belonging to Province
  3. Prisons
  4. Hospitals
  5. Municipalities
  6. Formalization of Marriage
  7. Property and Civil Rights
  8. Administration of Civil/Criminal Justice
  9. Education
  10. Incorporation of Companies
  11. Natural Resources
  12. Matters of a merely local or private nature

Concurrent/Shared Powers

Concurrent powers are:

  1. Old age pensions Immigration
  2. Agriculture
